John joined dohertybaines in 2011 to set up the new Planning and Development team. He has over 10 years experience in both the public and private sectors which give him an excellent understanding of all the angles relating to challenging sites. He began at the London Development Agency where he worked on the Olympic bid, and took that experience into the private sector where he has worked for a range of clients on a mix of complex sites and properties.

Qualified in both disciplines, his main area of expertise is combining a full understanding of the planning and development industries in order to bring them together to find angles for solving problems, maximising value and de-risking delivery. He is currently doing this for a range of clients, working alongside the investment, agency and management teams at dohertybaines and has already unlocked value in several stalled sites.

In his spare time John has somehow managed to play Premier league cricket for the last ten years and follows cycling, American football and too many other sports. He still gets very upset when Spurs lose.
